Trump fears 'major, major conflict' with North Korea

US President Donald Trump has said he would like to solve the North Korea crisis diplomatically, but that a "major, major conflict" is possible.

China's foreign minister called for negotiation and dialogue.

The UN Security Council is meeting to discuss North Korea on Friday and will consider further measures to counter its nuclear and missile programmes.

The country has made several military shows of strength in recent weeks but a missile it was testing failed.

America sent warships to the region and began installing a controversial anti-missile system in South Korea earlier this week.

North Korea nuclear threat: should California start panicking?

image from https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/apr/20/north-korea-nuclear-missile-could-it-hit-california-trumpAs rhetoric between North Korea and the US ratchets up, should major cities on the west coast be worried about a missile strike? Experts say the answer is tricky

In test blasts, military parades and propaganda videos that show San Francisco and Washington DC in ruins, North Korea has broadcast its intention to be a world nuclear power. Less clear, experts say, is how close the secretive nation is to realizing its ambitions to threaten the mainland of the United States.

How the US media reacted to Trump's Syria attack

image from http://www.slate.com/content/dam/slate/articles/news_and_politics/war_stories/2017/04/170406_WS_Trump-Syria.jpg.CROP.promovar-mediumlarge.jpgFifty hours after a video was broadcast showing the victims, including many children, of a suspected chemical attack on a rebel-held Syrian town, the United States' army fired dozens of cruise missiles against a government-held airbase in Syria.

The US strike came 77 days into Donald Trump's presidency - two and a half months marked by unprecedented hostility between the US media and a new administration.

But nothing changes the narrative quite like pictures of a few Tomahawk missiles being launched into the night sky.

And the tone shifted.

Journalists praised Trump's "decisiveness", his "morality" and the might of the US military. His actions were described as something Trump has seldom been accused of - being "presidential".

Planned Parenthood Still Hasn't Produced an Annual Report. Here's Why That's a Problem.

The American taxpayer is on the hook to provide money to the nation's largest abortion provider' so it's important that we have the necessary information to evaluate its practices.

Planned Parenthood releases a report each year highlighting the abortion giant's medical service data, revenue and expenses, and advocacy and educational activity. The annual reports are typically published in December or January. The most recent report available addresses 2014-2015 and was released in December 2015.

Based on the timing of past reports, the 2015-2016 annual report was expected to be available sometime in December 2016 or January 2017. As of today, the report is nowhere to be found.

Trump's not Hitler, but here's who could be...

There are two problems with comparing Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.

The first is that rather than demonizing Trump, it normalizes Hitler. The second is that it causes us to overlook the real Hitlers in our midst.

Not only is Trump not Hitler, America's separation of powers makes it impossible for a Hitler-like figure to rise in the U.S.

Trump may be a vulgar, narcissistic, billionaire and reality-TV star, but his plan to temporarily ban citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries and refugees from entry into the United States for security reasons, was derailed by a few judges.

Trump offers Planned Parenthood funds if it halts abortions

President Trump has offered to maintain federal funding for Planned Parenthood if the group stops providing abortions. Its president has spurned the proposal and noted that federal money already is not allowed to be used for abortion.

Trump confirmed there had been discussions after The New York Times inquired about what it described as an informal proposal. In a statement to the newspaper, Trump says "there is an opportunity for organizations to continue the important work they do in support of women's health, while not providing abortion services."

The paper reported that, in private conversations, White House officials mentioned that there could even be an increase in federal funds if Planned Parenthood stopped work related to abortions.

Mr. President: Don't Cave to Liberal Fearmongering. Protect Religious Freedom.

Liberals are up in arms over a possible executive order from President Donald Trump protecting religious freedom.

A draft copy of the executive order was leaked to LGBT groups and liberal media outlets in an attempt to prevent the president from issuing it.

But the president should not cave. He should stand up to the liberal outrage and hostility to ordinary American values that fueled his rise in the first place.
